Deadline Extension

NSF Eddie Bernice Johnson INCLUDES Aspire Alliance Summit proposals deadline extended to March 27, 2023.

Are you striving for a more diverse and inclusive faculty at your institution? Is your research or project focused on these issues? If so, then join us at the Aspire Alliance Summit on July 19 - 20, 2023 at UCLA’s Luskin Center. The theme of the Summit is Systemic Change for an Inclusive and Diverse Faculty, and we welcome any scholar, practitioner, or institutional decision-maker to join us. This is an opportunity for us to think together about how we might advance a more inclusive and diverse higher education faculty. We look forward to learning more about your work at the Aspire Summit. You can submit your work here by March 27.

Coming soon is registration! The Early bird registration is $200.

We are excited to welcome four national scholars as plenary speakers at the Summit.

Our keynote speaker is Dr. Kecia Thomas, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and Professor of Psychology at The University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Thomas is an expert in the psychology of workplace diversity whose scholarship and institutional engagements focus on strategic diversity recruitment, diversity in STEM workplaces, and understanding the career experiences of high-potential women of color.  She also recently served on the National Academies Committee that produced the report on Advancing Antiracism, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in STEMM Organizations (2023).

We will also have a conversation with Dr. Román Liera, Assistant Professor of Higher Education in the Department of Educational Leadership at Montclair State University; Dr. Cynthia Villarreal, Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership at Northern Arizona University, and Dr. Damani White-Lewis, Assistant Professor of Higher Education at the University of Pennsylvania. They will discuss how higher education can improve the recruitment, hiring, and retention of diverse faculty.
