Covid-19 policies for faculty (e.g., tenure clock extensions, use of COVID impact statements in promotion and tenure) are intended to mitigate negative effects of pandemic conditions on faculty careers. Yet implementation on its own is not enough to ensure inclusive and equitable policies and practices. We engaged in multiple modes of intentional, inclusive communication and discussion of our institution's Covid-19 policies for faculty. It is important because research indicates that women faculty, faculty of color, and intersections of these groups – faculty who are underrepresented on our campus (particularly in STEM) – have been disproportionately negatively impacted nationally by the pandemic. We must ensure our policies offer the intended benefits to these faculty so that they have equitable access to opportunities for career success and satisfaction.
